The question of why there is something rather than nothing has always been the ultimate embarrassment to me. In the last few years, I have come around to Max @tegmark's position: existence is quite possibly the default. Everything that is implementable is implemented.

No, consciousness is just the self report of a model of the contents of the attentional system. Once you see how that particular dream is being generated it is no longer mysterious.

By itself, existence is neutral. The experience of valence is done by the mind to the self. Some people seem to experience the integral of their subjective existence as pleasant (I don't).

What stands behind revealed things? Why do things appear? These questions may not be related to consciousness. They can be superior to it. The ability to recognize is physically conditioned. Abstraction is a description of a physically existing, yet unnamed things. That´s it.
