Solar energy has price parity now, i.e. we can produce unlimited amounts of solar power at current price levels, preferably using deserts. The residual risks of using nuclear energy seem unjustified.

Parity given current battery tech? I thought storage was still an issue. Also delivery from deserts requires a lot of infrastructure vs local delivery

The main reason to produce solar energy locally is to route around poorly incentivized energy providers. Producing energy at scale is much cheaper, even when accounting for cost and losses of transporting it. Deserts supply energy predictably, overnight storage is no problem.
