I get weird episodes where I go mostly blind from static in my vision, I get dizzy, confused about what's going on, my hearing dulls, and I become unable to follow conversation. It lasts about 20-40 minutes and then I'm totally fine afterwards. Anybody else get this thing?

That is probably a scotoma. I get that too, but it does not affect hearing for me. It starts in the middle of my visual field and usually moves out left, takes 20 minutes to pass through the visual field and then wreaks a bit of havoc in higher level cognition (less visual).

It started in my twenties, too, happened once a year, and now about four times a year. Usually not a big reason to worry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scintillating_scotoma …
