since i work in the field of mental health, i am particularly interested in consequences for psychotherapy: e.g. dealing with difficult emotions; Is mindfulness meditation the miracle cure for everything like some say? your point, that needs are not hierarchical...

I think that meditation does not work equally well for everyone, and every situation, and getting far requires a good teacher. Without supervision it might even be dangerous in some cases. That said, it can be very powerful.
