Unfortunately it doesn't, which is why everybody should financially support factual journalism. A lot of our societal decline can be traced back to the fact that reality is a terrible story (thus a bad biz model) compared to click bait & conspiracy theories

Unfortunately, "everybody" is poorly incentivized to do that, too (no causal arrow between individual consumers!). There is very little agency in the world. It seems more promising to get institutions and philanthropists to fund media, or we come up with something entirely new.
