To all the people complaining about the big platforms censoring or sanitising users content: Host your own stuff! Decentralise and diversify. Not only technology but also jurisdiction.

You cannot host your own stuff a scale if payment providers pull the plug, and you cannot form your own jurisdiction without an army.

I didn't say you should get your own jurisdiction. There are enough to choose from. Same for payment. You're kind of missing the point. It was about diversity and decentralisation vs monocultures and platformisation.

As Google’s Good Censor memo points out, social media are now consolidated. If you try to build something like Gab and don’t play by the rules that the big players agreed upon, you may find yourself excluded from hosters, payment, and search.

I'm speaking of hosting your own blog for example … I think you're really missing the point

It is quite irrelevant that you are able to post your ideas somewhere without getting prosecuted. The discussion is about whether you are allowed to significantly influence the opinions of others.

Again, you are really on the wrong train aka wrong discussion. Not what I was talking about at all.

some of "all the people complaining about the big platforms censoring or sanitising users content" might not agree that moving their content to a blog they self host in Lithuania is the solution
