AI riddle: why is playing chess a solved problem, yet detecting porn is a huge mess, and autonomous driving still in beta, human safety drivers required, after decades of research?https://www.wired.com/story/tumblr-porn-ai-adult-content/ …

Sorry
@plinz, but that won’t cover the driverless car case. -
I think that solving driving is harder than solving chess, because it contains myriads of edge cases. The fact that humans often deal poorly with these edge cases as well does not excuse the AI in our eyes.

Ie how much did Alphabet/Google pay Waymo employees?

If we were to pay AI critics better, I am not sure that AI criticism improves.

No, I doubt that's the core issue. A combination of closed (chess) vs open problem spaces & moravec paradox. Eg Alpha0 can't invent puzzles tailored to current player or tolerate small rule changes online.

In this specifically, I think it's more likely they're using an API than home-grown solution. Check: https://www.adityaananthram.com/comparison-of-the-best-nsfw-image-moderation-apis-2018/ …, see (overall) that even with small sample size (wrt all of tumblr), the best are still far from perfect.

+ chess is much "narrower" -- not sure it's that much of a riddle
