You are correct. While autonomous cars have logged fewer accidents per mile of driving than humans, the conditions are not comparable, so my statement was conjecture and possibly hyperbole.

Not at all hyperbole. Plopping self driving cars on the roads today would be chaotic. Your original post would be optimal. Business/progress is seldomly optimal.
