"We" don't. The evolution from Anakin to Darth Vader had deep integrity. What was wrong with the prequels was the transition from archetypal psychology to Hollywood stereotypes. Everything happens for a reason, except Jar Jar Binks.

Yeah, I agree, many other reasons to hate Star Wars prequels. But many films, especially in sci fi/fantasy genre, and superheroes and ...have villains that are innately and unjustifiably evil. And I think this fits most people’s lay psychology of evil. no?

I actually don't think that Darth Vader was evil. Every working, peaceful society is built around a death star that takes violence off the table. Anakin decided to sacrifice himself and build it, after his mother was murdered by barbarians, and he lost his wife and children.
