The conservative argument against liberating the masses is that the masses are not properly capable or incentivized by themselves to maintain an economically and socially viable culture and civilization, and communist countries are supporting evidence.

The social democrat argument is that Scandinavian and Western European countries demonstrate that efficient and transparent public administration and low income disparity may result in extremely livable societies with high GDP and high median economic and social participation.
