A mind is best not understood as a universal computer, but as a piece of software (running on a universal computational substrate) that self organizes to maximize expected reward (or an equivalent measure) by approximating an arbitrary function.

Society is the present state of a culture. A culture is being built over many generations, and can give rise to various societies. Cultures are built by individuals, families and interacting groups in an attempt to make sense of society and its relationship to the individual.
