I don't think I know a single person that actually uses the word "nips" to denote female anatomy. I wonder if the NIPS renaming debate goes back to a misunderstanding, where women assume that men secretly use that word to talk about them, and men assume that other, bad men do?

Seriously, have a look at this. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=US&q=nips,nipples … And if you look at the queries to see the context, it seems to be about a candy brand. The first query that may relate to nipples is "what are nips" which suggests that the term is actually quite unusual.

However, I am not a native English speaker, and it may well be that everyone around me hides their embarrassing slang words from me (and Google trends). So please let me know, do you use the word?

Replying to @ferrouswheel
The conference exists since 1987. Perhaps "nips" are a recent discovery in US popular language? Perhaps the kids should rephrase their slang so it does not interfere with words we used before they were born? :)

Hm. Based on the poll they did, the vast majority of respondents (and roughly half of the women) did not consider it to be an issue that required changing it. It may just be that the incentives of complaining in front of your twitter friends are more pronounced.
