I don't think I know a single person that actually uses the word "nips" to denote female anatomy. I wonder if the NIPS renaming debate goes back to a misunderstanding, where women assume that men secretly use that word to talk about them, and men assume that other, bad men do?
The conference exists since 1987. Perhaps "nips" are a recent discovery in US popular language? Perhaps the kids should rephrase their slang so it does not interfere with words we used before they were born? :)

Hm. Based on the poll they did, the vast majority of respondents (and roughly half of the women) did not consider it to be an issue that required changing it. It may just be that the incentives of complaining in front of your twitter friends are more pronounced.
