I’ve posited a date & an embodied AI platform. 2 instantiations: 1 w/ a brute force neo-cortical CNS; & one with 3-level bio-analog: basal ganglia, limbic, neo-cortical. Moral thinking is embodied; and my AI will have thus have morality Hod Lipson’s dismasted Robot is a clue...https://twitter.com/Plinz/status/1053283694264365056 …

1/2 ok, embodiment means having a physical body. I am asserting (wrongly no doubt) that without a body a system can not navigate the world. Why? Because the physical world is a moral landscape (ML) not a merely a material one. And without a body AI won’t be able to navigate ML

So you don't think that people in virtual worlds, like WoW or Twitter, are capable of moral behavior? And that sociopaths are not a-moral but insufficiently embodied?

2/2 w/out a body: intelligent system would have too much information (see: DonaldHoffman). The body provides hierarchy of relevant info for moral decisions (priorities). W/out a body & its innate limits & hierarchies of value a system would be paralyzed by too much (infinite)info

Could it be that you mix up body and reward function?

But: vision, hierarchies of value vis-à-vis how to even see at all in realm of “infinite facts” (see: Donald Hoffman). And moral choice (e.g., revenge) as pragmatic response to hobbling. Overcoming is more than adapting to dismasted body; it’s dealing w/ person who dismasted you
