I wonder how many people are aware that Ludwig Wittgenstein preempted the logicist program of AI a full century ago. And that the problems that Wittgenstein and symbolic AI ran into were the same. And that they are now being solved.

Wittgenstein points out in the preface that he does not expect it to be very useful to people that did not have the same thoughts. Indeed, it is somewhere between delicious and trivial for AI programmers to read it, and practically useless for almost anyone else.

I read the German one first, of course, but I did not yet understand it back then. The English translation is good.
