Stoicism is a state in which you only regulate what is out of balance, and only identify with balances you can regulate. It seems optimal for single individuals, but I would expect that it should be disadvantaged by evolution for species that form cooperative groups.
Virtue in stoicism seems to be different from virtue in our Christian world. For stoics, it appears to be about becoming "clean" and undistorted: integrity with yourself. For Christians, it means to constantly struggle into the right direction, so you have integrity with God.

Stoic virtues are a combination of Greco-Roman virtues. Being undistorted, achieving Ataraxia is more like a goal IMO. If you have it, you are on the right path
