does hardware matter anymore?

You mean memory (the 6s had never enough), battery size (after 2-3 years the battery does not last through the day), low light camera skillz (wanna get), and headphone port (wanna keep)? I suppose so.

I am using Nokia 8, I think it's pretty good! The only flaw that I'm aware of is that if you also want to use a tempered glass screen protector, the touch control might not as sensitive as an iPhone according to my experience :) https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9058&idPhone2=8522 …

Let's see what the reviews of the new version will be saying.

Nostalgia or rational thinking about the price and equipment of the phone? Both?
-
Headphone port and fingerprint reader are not nostalgia. And ditching the forced integration of fantastically subpar services (Apple Music and Apple Maps) for voice integration of what everyone actually uses (Spotify and Google Maps) is desirable.

I will try the sensitivity of the touch screen first, but probably yes.

I'd love to switch back to Android, there's a lot of good devices with fair pricing. But that won't happen unless the update situation is solved - which was the reason to get an iPhone 7. I don't want to get a new phone every two years or start administrating my goddamn phone.
