ADHD is habituation of reward system to abnormally large dopamine supply triggered by chronic hyper-stimulation of reward pathways (tv, video games, smartphones), raising the dop bar for motivation/attention. Stimulants boost dop release, so normal rewards to reach threshold.

Interesting idea. But what kind of test could differentiate between this hypothesis, and the more usual big-discount-factor-causes-ADHD one? Formally, they are different ofc, but how to tell which one is true for humans?

Big discount factor means that the functions that can integrate expected reward over longer timespans don't manage to overrule anticipated short-term reward. It may come down to the same thing.

Could be a problem in the supression of new stimulus, also it could be a problem of sensorial overcharge. Might be related with how the brain decide what information must be processed and when and many diffetent areas may be envolved, not only a problem of microarchitecture

Just freestyling here: a less ADHS-looking system somehow rewards focus, which is definitionally "inhibition of novel threads". I would guess in ADHS, inhibition systems are less developed. Extra DA perhaps simply leads to down regulation of excitatory rcptrs, a suboptimal sol'n.
