Yeah. Though a lot of that "kitsch" for kids is really just marketing. Not even an attempt at art, or craft. (Except marketing could be considered a "craft".)

A deeper issue is that many well-meaning educators shy away from truth when it becomes unpleasant. Many parents and teachers feel that children should live in a sanitized world. To me that looks like gas-lighting.
