Inefficient software comes from humans understanding less (or nothing) how CPUs work and abstracting details out to make it "human friendly". Only computers can manage the complexity to make it efficient and simple, I bet on unprecedented efficiency, not the other way round.

I agree. Inefficiency in software for later generations come from the need to build larger and larger abstractions to make human programmers more efficient. Not the problem machines will face. I predict extremely efficient codebases when AI builds AI.

Maybe we are all just part of a 'hello world' implementation :-)

Won't they also be optimizing for performance to a degree that we can hardly comprehend?

There is but one thing I have learned from my study of computer engineering (electrical engineering + computer science), the further into your study you get, the harder it gets to to create the "blinking led" program; the hello world of EE

SOFT ECSTASY (RETITLED) Leaning on the sun till butterflies renounce flowers And royalty sits in shadow -- Only then will love lose life To the quivering propulsions of technology, Inviting a debauched intelligence On its errand of singularity To replace my anguish-free ecstasy.pic.twitter.com/PE6oGMrrFy

This makes me wonder: How much will low or “zero cost” abstractions (like rustlang) be pushed by superintelligent AIs to slow or bound the bloat? Related, will ontology-sets that joint-cut better allow effectively greater intelligence parsimoniously?

Rust runs best on top of a JVM that you implement in node. Once you got everything set up, you can build a really nice llvmlite that blasts through your Python like nobodies business

A general AI would probably know better
