My enjoyment of music results from the resolution of a tension in the musical structure, which if it would not happen would make the music painful to listen to. If I don't perceive that tension, it means that I don't understand the music and it sounds boring.

The mere possibility of unanticipated delight refutes your claim. My ‘peak experiences’ have all been unprecedented in my life, unknown and undesired before they happened. After was a different matter. Ego-shattering encounters with beauty can be hard to relinquish once had.
