On the train from the #HLAI2018 conference I had a fascinating convo with a physiotherapist. She pointed out how all human perception starts with proprioception, and if proprioception breaks down, we lose orientation in the world. @Numenta makes a similar point for AI.
So when you dream without the experience of a body, you don’t consider yourself conscious?

In dreams, the experiencer constructs internal experiences out of old sensory memories. Sensory memories are made via physical inputs (the body) and stored in physical structures (neurons or silicone or whatever). No body, no memories, no senses, no internality.
