When Google says they don’t operate via a political bias, they’re being sincere. Much of the left don’t see their views as political, but as moral. To them, it’s not that they’re “liberal,” they’re just right.

That is a human universal: Every political position that someone might hold is by definition the right one.

That is nonsense. There are plenty of political positions that are admitted questions of preference or efficiency.

If a political position is understood as a vector defined by a set of core values, then it tends to be about right and wrong, not efficiency. However, if you take political position to mean any stance that one may take in a political matter, I agree with you.

The interesting difference is that your preference is not conditioned on the value itself, but on a chain of intermediate reasons. If someone contradicts these reasons but not the values, the position may change.
