NWS is calling Florence the storm of a lifetime but isn't this the new normal with the ocean warmed up just like scientists have been warning us about for decades?
The storms before it were weaker, the storms of the future will be stronger. So a storm just like Florence might be unique to a lifetime?

Of course not. Yet telling people that we are not in the middle of a catastrophe but at the very beginning is not what a weather service is incentivized for.
