other argument for the same thing: AI will have it easier to displace us in those areas that we haven't evolved for, so the stuff we'll end up doing will be whatever we did evolve for (at least, ignoring things like who gets paid for what, and stuff we're inexplicably good at)

I think that he just tried to find a pleasant way to placate the public wrt the increasing obsolescence of human labor. And indeed, that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Also yes we were "meant" to do those tasks because intelligence was meant to evolve.

I think he was trying to find a positive spin on the need to reorganize societies away from labor. He did not actually make a philosophical or futurist point.
