Descartes was such a troll: "it is absolutely true that we must believe that there is a God, because we are so taught in the Holy Scriptures, and, on the other hand, that we must believe the Holy Scriptures because they come from God" (Meditations, 1641)

I disagree, I don’t believe knowing the truth allows us to regulate better. Knowing all the fitness functions of a widely accepted reality (or maybe multiple realities) will help us regulate better.

Besides, will we ever know the truth (assuming you mean base-reality)? and why does the truth matter? I’d pick a reality system which is going to give me the most satisfaction by participating in it (maybe starting with survival and the needs hierarchy above it).
