I am curious: do you have a detailed argument that you can make for that (i.e. Bitcoin resulting from Libertarianism, not financial parasitism or something else, and Bitcoin being supremely harmful, more than e.g. austerity politics)? It would be interesting to read it!

The environmental harm of bitcoin (i.e., electricity usage) is well documented. I can't make a detailed argument that bitcoin is result of Libertarianism, but the original goals (decentralized control, anonymity, no government regulation) certainly dovetail w/ that philosophy.

IMHO the energy usage is merely a side effect of the ability of a virus utilizing a part of the resources that it extracts from its host for its own spreading. Internet porn burns a lot of energy too.
