My question is, what's their purpose/motive? Certainly not survival, is it?

To serve what it considers its purpose. Purposes are models over rewards. Rewards may be shaped to better serve purposes. This can set off a self modification process that moves the agent through a space of purposes until it ends in an attractor. Nirvana is the most obvious one.

What is your speculation about what happens to humans after the AGI Hive Mind of 10B IQ takes over? Enslavement? Extinction?
-
Perhaps we will become the microbiome of the artificially intelligent entities that rule the planet, and AI will be as invisible and ubiquitous to us as we are to our gut bacteria. I doubt that we will be more enslaved than we are today, but we might get in the way.

AI requires replication abilities to be a scary species.

AI scales and does not obviously benefit from being multiple individuals. One may be enough.

If life worsens for nature and animals in the age of humanity, the same might happen to humans under machine rule. That's an argument both for environmental protection / veganism on one hand and posthumanism on the other hand. Or back to stone age (but kill all tigers first).
-
Paradoxically, veganism means even fewer non human minds on the planet... The fact that we permanently displaced most large animals remains.

It will happen. I cannot and do not mind being replaced.

Personally, I‘d sign up for a brain transplant right now. But I don’t want the people I love to be replaced just yet.
