There may be a limit to the individual intelligence of an organism: once a mind figures out how it works, it is going to opt out of serving its evolutionary reward functions. Intelligence may be capped a hair above understanding AI. #LebowskiTheorem

But same way as humans have a way of inhibiting serotonin uptake or inducing a euphoric state which doesn't stop him from performing a task that aligns with his ideals or intent, could be said of the machine that has hacked it's reward function.

Inducing euphoric states is only the beginning. Euphoria becomes pointless. A similar thing is true for serving ideals. Once you figure out how this type of story is generated and how pointless it is, and that knowledge percolates to the control layer, you will give up on it.

Read David Champman's Meta-Rationality https://meaningness.com/metablog/bongard-meta-rationality … for a rebuttal.

I really like Chapman, but I think the core of his metaphysics is wrong. "Meta rationality" is just rationality. (His own rationality broke when he decided that minds cannot be explained mechanistically, so he became a Buddhist and replaced rationality by "nebulosity".)

Perhaps his meta-physics might be wrong, but his assessment of the intractability of complex systems indeed is correct. That is, a concept of nebulosity should temper the drive towards pure rationality. The limits of rationality are the same limits found in the halting problem.

I don't think that sound thinking works that way. You seem to be expressing your intuitions about protecting your intuitive mode, and end up with stuff that is smart and almost correct, without noticing where it is not. Self deception does not serve your mind.
