What about the 5 percent of people with a sense for aesthetics who think that the visual composition of that salad looks pretty unbalanced now? At least add a slice of cucumber instead.

Yes, that is possibly missing from Taleb's argument: Attention to things that might cause offense is extremely selective. Scott Alexander had a post about this where he argues that it has to do with cost/benefit of selective policing. But I think it might be more about signaling.

I am very sympathetic to these arguments. I don't share your humanist optimism about hunters being touched by the suffering of the animals they kill though (you can go to the dark, bloody internet abodes of the hunting community if you don't believe me).

I am pretty sure that Google would prefer if all politicization would stop and they could just write their code. Even the person who wrote the tweet immediately came to regret it and tried to correct it with the next tweet.

Nah, not every single one. There is so much injustice going on in the world that we could scream all day long, but for some reason or other, the outrage du jour focuses only at a few and ignores all others.
