I don't have the impression that Robin Hanson is in cahoots with a particular ideological camp that would make him say things to further their nefarious agenda. That does not preclude him from maneuvering his own thinking into an attractor that spins off into a defective minimum.

I also don't think that this is necessarily the case, because I do not understand his reasoning in sufficient depth to reach the conclusion that he is correct or mistaken, or just covers a small area of the extrapolation space that is potentially correct (as he says himself).
