The Nazi party first entered the German parliament in 1924 and took power in 1933. The first extermination camp became operational only in 1940. The descent into cruelty takes time. When someone looks like a Nazi, walks and talks like a Nazi, you may as well call them a Nazi.

I understand and agree with your point of early vigilance, but I still think that imaginary walking patterns are not as good as diagnostic predictors as is large groups with military organization waving "Mein Kampf", which explicitly states the intended politics.

reminds me of the french "CRS SS" slogan of 68' (crs being a french police unit). My grandmother considered these folks likely hadn't dealt with SS previously. Not saying this to glorify authority though.

Nazis were truthful to themselves. They only talked about bringing glory to Germany, and they focused only on Germans. (Their definition of German though was a bit lopsided. Hitler himself turned out to be a non-German) And they stuck to socialism to the core.

so the difference is that real nazis are not just all talk but no act, right?

They acted on a radical plan for a social order that included active evolutionary selection in favor of their own group. Not many people have a plan, and few of those involve actual genocide.
