The idea of "toxic masculinity", "toxic feminity", "toxic whiteness" etc. means "the way you are born is not acceptable and you need to be formed into something else". This is not a way to build a society. Don't privilege or punish identities, build shared purpose for all.

“Tocix“ signifies an unhealthy over-identifocation with an arbitrary set of looks and behaviors, not the particular identity per se. It is used to show, that the identity (the place in society) you've been assigned at birth can become a prison, from whicht you *can* free yourself

I think in practice, "toxic whiteness" and the other "toxic
$nesses" etc. are very similar to original sin. The proponents expect you to try to redeem yourself, but you have it per default as an existential debt. (Why should good old religious tricks not work on modern people?)1 reply 1 retweet 1 like -

'Toxic masculinity' is not the same as 'masculinity is toxic'. It's precisely not about condemning a whole identity, but about showing how certain elements of it can be harmful for yourself. There is a reason why men are twice as likely to commit suicide.
