Our brains aren't generating this story alone, though.

How could someone else help a brain to produce a simulation, if that someone else is dreamed in the same brain?

I'm not a metaphysical solipsist although I wouldn't have to self-identify as one for the theory to be correct. That interview didn't exist until I clicked on it?

I think that there are other minds similar to mine, so I am not a solipsist. But I also don't think that we have direct access to a shared reality. We are just creating dreams with somewhat isomorphic properties. Each dream is self-contained. Every brain dreams its own universe.

But we have mathematics in common. Simulated or dreamed maths is the same as the actual maths, unless one is deluded that 1+1=3.

Yes, I think of mathematics as the set of all languages. Languages are defined by generative rules, and the dynamics of the language follow intrinsically from the rules, not from the rule manipulator. If you have a universal computer to execute the rules, you get the same math.

So dreaming of a fiction (the self) is an emergent characteristic of math?

At least indirectly. Physics may be a fractal generated by the emergent characteristics of math, and dreaming is a fractal generated by certain physical systems.

Kind of amazing that love and consciousness are emergent characteristics of math and physics. That should be taught early on.

But how, if almost nobody understands what love and consciousness are, and what they are good for? Most stop at thinking that they are somehow terminally desirable.
