If you disagree with anything I say for political reasons, you are right. Everyone's political beliefs are per definition the right ones. That is how political beliefs work, unfortunately, and what makes it so hard to discuss policy across political camps.
The country I grew up in prided itself on being pretty much the most egalitarian and democratic in the world. Excuse me if I am unimpressed by that argument, if you don't back it up with rationality.

I was merely pointing out that 'successful' is a pretty weak standard for good governance. I can think of plenty of 'successful' regimes I wouldn't want to live under.

Successful depends entirely on how you measure success, of course. By most standards, a government that falls apart or is overtaken by the competition is not successful, however. Totalitarian and terrorizing regimes have not been successful in the long term.
