That does not mean that you are moving your belief in the space between the two. You just have two beliefs, usually by maintaining separate contexts.

Yes, I think this lack of identity gives you a headstart. All "missing" parts of identity are initially disturbing, but eventually true. Identity is fake news. (Even if we find that we may have to construct one for ourselves.)

...i.e. this analogy is wrong. Beliefs are not “physical” in that sense (points in space), but rather “keys to new dimensions”(used or not...I know you probably disagree with Everett’s view
). -
Physics is probably not playing out in a continuous space either, but the mathematical metaphor is useful. You can think of the parameters that constitute beliefs as defining a space, and the believer moving through its loss landscape.
