I give a few quotes below from my essay "The cosmic wheel" to pinpoint the differences between the Dharmic model and the current dominant paradigm of western philosophy. I critiqued the argument of Yuval Hariri in his book "Sapiens".http://www.pragyata.com/mag/the-cosmic-wheel-366 …

Hariri's viewpoint is incorrect when applied to Dharma. Hindus consider that there is an internal sun that illuminates the consciousness, just as the external sun illuminates the world outside. It is considered an error to believe that these two are different from one another.pic.twitter.com/mxh68zhWX3

They are both manifestations of the one single reality, which can only be grasped in parts by the untrained mind and by the limited vocabulary of language. However, it can be corrected by meditation. The reality of mind, including money (Artha), can be aligned with outer reality.

In this model of conscious experience, the inner self is integrated into the supporting universe and not separate from it. In such a model, ecological harmony is not a delicate trade-off between conflicting interests, but a consolidation to the central core of one’s own identity.

India has a very long economic history, proof for which are the Lapus Lazuli stones found throughout the ancient world. Enlightened models of economics, that protect nature and ecology, were probably discovered through a long process of trial and error.https://twitter.com/vakibs/status/966680806973468672 …

The flourishing sea-trade spread the artifacts of India far and wide. But nothing was more prized by the rich people of the ancient times, than this deep blue stone: Rājavarta. This Sanskrit word got corrupted in Persian as Lajaward & then transmitted to Latin as Lapis Lazuli. pic.twitter.com/MzrF9d5k0t

These economic models may possibly fix the nightmare of ecological collapse that we are grappling with today. Unfortunately, the nuts and bolts of these models are lost in history, during the colonial occupation of India. But they can be reimagined & adapted to the current world.

There is no sacredness in ancient revelations. The old culture must have gotten things right we forgot how to understand, but it also failed and died, which is precisely why we don’t understand it any more. Don’t try to revive old cult ware by booting it up in your innocent brain

Seriously, do you want to live in any version of India that existed a thousand years ago? You probably don’t get to pick and choose which parts of modernity you can carry back into your pastoral feudalist utopia.

I understand this nostalgia is your identity, like mine is the bittersweet world of German eternalist romanticism, but it is just as wrong. The universe does not work this way. You only feel it should, because the identity fixes it to that target value.

You are not a scholar of the history of science, Joscha. If you were, you would see how often the Greeks & Romans are referred to in the western academia for every single thing. Scientific culture, just like any culture, develops with a history. It is important to realize this.

I am aware of that. It is because after the Roman empire fell, Europe dropped into a dark age, and had to rebuild a new civilization. It rediscovered and imported many parts from the ruins it excavated. But the plot was fully lost inbetween.

In the West, the plot was lost with WW2. The next generation tried to find a new one, and Generation X (mine) were the first who never knew what it is like to have parents with a working plot. Millennials rediscovered authoritarianism, but not how to identify good authorites.
