I'm planning on picking up Diddy as a secondary but I don't quite understand how the up b works to get that kind of vertical height. Do I need to hold diagonally to get height like that or is there a set curved path to make it work best? Does it scale significantly more than b4?

The video actually just makes it look like diddy is lower than he appears. Up until a certain point during the barrel travel path, you don’t really lose any vertical height for going horizontal so you can go left and then up and go pretty much the same height as just up

Is this due to sideways barrel being better than vertical? Or can diddy make it back from the bottom too.

Diddy is just higher than he appears in the video, if he were at the bottom of the blastzone he wouldn’t be able to make it

There's still that thing where if you're hit offstage and up b right after you fall way fast the slow fall speed thing fails ...any idea why that is? Is there some way to avoid that?
-
It's like that so that you essentially wouldn't be able to 'break' your momentum if you got knockbacked. Imagine getting hit by a spike and then you up-b, with the slowfall you'll pretty much stop immediately. It's in the game for other chars too, like fox/falco up-b

Yeah they might have gone a bit overboard lol

His recovery is still very vulnerable. It being able to go a a crazy distance just makes it viable tbh
