Any undergrads want a paid summer internship at ? Our group is looking for 5 awesome people to help us find and study planets with TESS. I can nearly guarantee you'll discover a new exoplanet if you want to work on the search side! It's a thrill that never fades!

This is a beautiful result! Radius gap across different parts of the sky! Who's going to be the first to give us the TESS radius gap?

Ever wondered what life would be like on different planets around other stars? Come find out at our Evenings Under the Stars talk presented by our own Dr. Summers on Monday Feb 10th at 6 pm in Research Hall 163! It's free and open to the public, followed by a observatory tour.

02/02/2020 in the USA 02/02/2020 in the sensible parts of the World 2020-02-02 for ISO 8601 nerds But everyone agrees that today is a palindromic date. a level of agreement that we won’t see again for another 37203 days.

We should really be putting large amounts of money and manpower towards this. Also, in preventing large rocks from whacking our planet. These are the 2 most serious calamities our civilization could face. Will face, given enough time.

We have reached a consensus on a plan for achieving the Doppler precision needed to determine the masses of Earth-like planets, ' Alan Boss reports from the final session of the Extreme Precision Radial Velocities working group's 3-day meeting at our HQ.

Good night . See you on the other side of the Sun in a few decades. I grew up as a scientist with you, from my first analysis and proposals as an undergrad pre-launch through my PhD thesis and beyond.

And it doesn't have to be this year. Or next year. Or ten years from now. "Non-traditional" students make up a much larger fraction of the student population in grad school compared to undergrad.

All you need is one acceptance to go to grad school. The rejections hurt like hell, so take some time for self-care and brush your shoulders off. I got rejected from 8 of the 11 PhD programs I applied to as a Caltech undergrad 19 years ago, and the process is even harder today!

It hasn’t been easy work, but necessary to develop a plan for detecting Earth analogs. What an impressive group to be working with! 🙌🏻

To be clear, this image was taken *after* the close approach; seeing two linear trails rather than lots of crud moving in many directions indicates that the spacecraft missed each other.

Some of the supporters attacking us on Twitter at the same time claim to be "green", "pro-Nature" etc. etc. But they are willing to destroy something of fundamental value to humans GLOBALLY - our right to see the natural sky - for a narrow, private interest. Insane!
