I actually cannot wait to get out of the forced tipping culture. Why can't places pay their employers?

Even if places paid their employees properly it would not diminish tipping entirely. What Pixie is pointing at, from my interpretation, is the need to tip in certain countries to ensure that employees actually earn a fair wage, rather than be awarded for excelling.
Yes. I tip in most EU countries only when the service has excelled my expectations. Otherwise I just pay what they asked me to pay.
