I've noted that the most dangerous people who leave comments anywhere are those who can argue intelligently, without resorting to profanity, yet at the same time attempt to manipulate people into agreeing with them. Incidentally, the ban list on my channel is up to 5 now. :P

...not that it actually blocks people from commenting. It's a good reference to past trouble-makers though... Hey
@TeamYouTube , any chance you'll make the "Hidden Users" section in the YouTube Community Settings ACTUALLY block comments from appearing from certain users someday?1 reply 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -

Just to confirm, have you tried blocking people by following the steps here: https://yt.be/help/WTUR ? This will make sure the blocked person cannot see or comment on your content. Keep us posted.

I... don't see an option for that anywhere. I thought the "Messages" feature referred to in that article was removed? I'm talking about the http://www.youtube.com/comment_management … where there's a Hidden Users section. Adding people to that hasn't ever blocked them from commenting on videos. :(

Ah, that was a different service that has been deprecated. We recommend blocking a user which will prevent them from seeing or commenting on content you've posted. Also, to clarify, hidden users feature is used to hide a user's messages in real time. Hope this clarifies.

Is there any way to do that from the Creator Studio or do I HAVE to use YouTube Studio Beta? At present I much prefer the old Creator Studio (I find it easier to use) but I'm not seeing any blocking options other than Hidden Users and I can't find Messenger where it should be. :(

I should point out that even in YouTube Studio Beta, the action menu has a "Hide User from Channel" option which appears to do the same thing, adding them to the list of Hidden Users. Does this just NOT WORK? (It says it can take days to work but some comments are MONTHS old!)

...actually... nevermind. I'm looking back and noticing certain comments from now-hidden users FINALLY gone. Sure took longer than a few days. :P You should add some details to the Help section to indicate that it can take a solid length of time for hiding users to take effect.
