It used to make me wince but I now accept it as part of a story being told. That's how those people speak. And isn't it set in the mid 20th century? I was annoyed by Sheeran's Bowdlerisation but understood why it was done.

It should be removed. The word is thrown about today as much as it was back then and if we are trying to teach people to be more accepting of the gay community why keep this as an exception? If it were a racist word it would most likely have been removed.
