That’s a bizarre anecdote! I’d have expected the headmaster to be aware, if girl’s trousers were within the school dress code (I’d have thought they’d know ahead of time if it was going to be a noticeable change). It’s good that he apologised, though!

When I graduated high school I was told girls HAD to wear dresses and dress shoes and boys HAD to wear dress slack and dress shoes. It’s since changed but I remember being told if I didn’t wear a dress I couldn’t walk at graduation.
