English Heritage are objecting to a modern steel statue being placed in an historic setting, it has nothing to do with the statue being of Turing. Stop with the click bait.

And? You would have a point if a similar statue of someone straight had been allowed. This isn’t about sexuality but about the suitability of a contemporary statue in a historical setting.

They always say this same crap though. They want everything to be ossified in the past, when there are plenty of examples of modern art complementing historical settings beautifully.

Hardly a “backlash.” They simply suggest the style of the sculpture would “result in harm, of a less than substantial nature, to the significance of the listed buildings and landscape.” Really: we don’t need fake outrage when there’s real things to be outraged about.

It has everything to do with the style of the statue and nothing to do with it being of Alan Turing.
