The UK is much closer to being decriminalized than where I am currently living. I remember my time in the UK (two years!) as laced with violence and fear, with no real support systems. I was turned away by the women’s shelter even for just a contact for talking about the

violence because I, unlike everyone else there, had a choice. It was awful, and tragic. Where I live now, with the nordic model, I have a good support system, long-term trauma therapy, good and educated gynecological care, and much less violent johns.
