I think that they should. It’s kind of like the N word, in that, the more it’s used in common society through media, the more people think it’s ok to use.

When the song was released I don't remember that word ever being used in a homophobic way in the UK. It might be now, due to American influence, but in those days the most hateful word was queer.

I'm not sure anyone cares anymore.... No one cares about Walk on the Wild Side being about trans sexual abuse either. Moreover it talks about 'coloured girls' which is not really done these days. Lou had a trans girlfriend for quite some time.

I'll always be more disappointed Shane than anyone else for the homophobia in this song. But maybe he's in the closet, that's what all the excessive drinking is about. Censoring words is always a way of avoiding the issue.
