I was raised in a rural, blue-collar environment: Lots of farmers, GIs, mechanics, truckers, etc. The most desirable attribute of men & women, wasn't their masculinity/femininity; it was their "get the job done", or "get out of the way" attitude. I imprinted on that attitude.

You worked hard & played harder. High-maintenance, vain, shallow, narcissistic parasites, of any gender/sex, were objects of distain. Many "confirmed bachelors" were known; but they looked, worked, & played like one of the guys. The guys only had a problem w/ ones who didn't.
