Don’t feel helpless. Call the police. She knows the attackers, which is even better. Make sure the book is thrown at them. Hopefully they’re also 18, so the police don’t just give them a slap on the wrist as minors (which is what happened to me!)

I think it’s great you’re showing bloody images, it shows people that violence is real and the homophobia needs to be tackled. Also if you need a trigger warning for something as tame as this then you need to get out more

Shameful behavior. Nobody should be assaulting anyone else. The UK has a growing problem with violence and thuggery. This is not the norm in other European countries and it needs to be addressed as a priority

Why is there an increase in homophobic attacks in England?

The breakdown of communities & social control, along with Brexit, the rise of right wing anger/hatred, has made less socially unacceptable. Blaming and hatred of anyone different, weaker has been encouraged by powerful people like Johnson, Farage & media like the Daily Mail.
