When I see the rainbow flag now, I feel depressed, oppressed, discriminated, like an outcast and not safe. It also stands for kink and fetishism which is not what Pride is about. I’m a lesbian and there are many more like us who feel this way. Lesbians are simply not a part.

When I was younger, it represented safety, a place of sanctuary. Today? It represents compelled thought, compelled speech, and due to the application of ‘queer theory’ now intercenters people who aren’t even homosexual. Lesbian and Gay has become subsumed into an acronym.
