When gay male actors find equal opportunities as their straight counter parts then sexuality should have no bearing. We cannot judge in an equal way situations that are not equal. And straight and gay actors are still not equal.

I agree entirely; however, would it not be damaging to relegate gay roles entirely to gay actors? In the long term this could lead to a perception that gay actors should only play gay roles, and further diminish the opportunities of LGBT+ actors throughout film and television.

In individual cases yes that’s probably correct but there are wider issues to be considered regarding the difficulties gay actors face getting cast in ANY roles & str8 actors who seem to exploit playing gay cough* Darren Criss *cough
